Program Information
Faculty: Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science
Degree: Doctorate
Field of Study: Biomedical/Medical Engineering
Description This collaborative graduate program prepares students for careers in biomedical engineering and provides them with the opportunity to advance their own research, tap into Ryerson’s leading faculty-based research and work on industry-related projects. Throughout the program, students are supported by a network of experienced faculty supervisors and have opportunities for training at research hospitals such as St. Michael’s Hospital and the University Health Network. This program supports student development in biomedical engineering R&D — which is ranked as the number-one job in the health-care industry — to meet the demand for better medical devices, more sophisticated medical equipment and improved biomedical procedures.

  • Statement of Research Interests
Candidates applying to the PhD program in Biomedical Engineering need to have a demonstrated capacity to undertake advanced research though the completion of a Master’s degree in biomedical engineering, or a related field in either engineering or biomedical sciences (e.g. biology, biochemistry, physiology, immunology, genetics, etc.), from a recognized institution. A minimum Master's cumulative grade point average (CGPA) or equivalent of 3.33/4.33 (B+) is required for admission consideration.
