Description The MFA Program is 20 to 24 months in duration, beginning in the Fall semester. The university currently accepts approximately ten students to the program each year, with fourteen to twenty students in the program at any one time. The MFA degree is awarded after the successful completion of 42 credits of course work and other program requirements (including the Final Thesis Exhibition and Statement).

Test Scores:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 90] or CanTEST [min. 4.5] or Michigan English Language Assessment Battery [min. 82] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 69] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]

The language of instruction at the university is English. Required courses in all Graduate Programs include small group seminars in which discussion, reading, and writing at the graduate level are expected. International applicants for whom English is a second language must submit evidence of their ability to carry on studies in English. Applicants for whom English is a second language must submit evidence of their ability to carry on studies in English. Please refer to NSCAD's detailed English Language Requirement. International applicants for whom English is a second language must arrange for the results of an English language test to be sent directly to the university. The the MFA program​ may offer conditional acceptance, based on language scores.
