|Field of Study:
||The goal of the medical undergraduate program is to equip the student to meet the most stringent standards of medical practice and professionalism to ensure career-long excellence in whole-person care. Upon completion of the program, the graduate will be able to function responsibly, in a supervised clinical setting, at the level of an 'undifferentiated' physician. The M.D.,C.M. (Doctor of Medicine, Master in Surgery) degree will be granted at graduation.
The program emphasizes the fundamental sciences and scientific methodology as pillars of medical knowledge. In doing so, the program provides opportunities for participation in research and other scholarly activities contributing to the development of new knowledge. The program adheres to the tenet that medical practice is an art and profession as well as a science. The school of medicine respects and nurtures a set of guiding principles, values, and personal qualities that are considered fundamental to the physician’s role as healer and professional. The school believes that such values are best promoted by role modelling. These values include: altruism, commitment, equanimity, integrity and honesty, loyalty, respect, tolerance, and trustworthiness.
