Description Physiotherapists understand how the body moves, what keeps it from moving well and how to restore mobility. Working as part of a health-care team or independently, physiotherapists strive to improve the health and mobility of their patients. They can also advise on ways to prevent health problems from occurring before they arise. This program aims to improve the evidence that we use in clinical practice. In this advanced, thesis-based MSc, students enrich their research knowledge and gain valuable teaching experience.

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 92] or Michigan English Language Assessment Battery [min. 85] or CanTEST [min. 4.5] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 580] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 7]

English is the language of study at Dalhousie; therefore all applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate their capacity to pursue a graduate-level program in English before admission. Dalhousie accepts a number of different English proficiency test scores: Internet-based TOEFL- 92; Written TOEFL - 580; MELAB - 85; IELTS - 7; CanTest - 4.5 (with no band score lower than 4.0); or CAEL 70 with no band score lower than 60. Alternatively, a prospective student may enroll in the ESL program with the Dalhousie College of Continuing Education and obtain a grade of at least A- on the final stage of that training. The language competency test may be waived if the applicant has completed a degree at a recognized university where the language of instruction is English. The claims must be verified by the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Test scores are valid for two years from the date the test was written. Applicants are also advised to submit a recent GRE score.

Applicants are required to submit two academic references - a work reference from someone who may comment objectively on your goals may be included in addition to the two. Applicants are also required to submit a one page statement of their experience, their goals and objectives, and the area of physiotherapy research to be studied. In addition, applicants are strongly advised to include a copy of a recent paper authored in the area in which the applicant is planning to pursue studies (if available).
