Description This full-time, graduate-level program will give you the skills you need to practice occupational therapy. As an occupational therapist, you'll spend your career helping people of all ages and backgrounds to enhance their performance of everyday activities - things like work, school, leisure and self-care. Occupational therapy focuses on helping people overcome challenges they face due to an injury, illness or environmental barrier. Occupational therapists are trained to help people improve their quality of life by assisting them in regaining or developing skills and abilities so that they can continue to participate in their everyday activities.

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 92] or Michigan English Language Assessment Battery [min. 85] or CanTEST [min. 4.5] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 580] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 7]

English is the language of study at Dalhousie; therefore all applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate their capacity to pursue a graduate-level program in English before admission. Dalhousie accepts a number of different English proficiency test scores: Internet-based TOEFL- 92; Written TOEFL - 580; MELAB - 85; IELTS - 7; CanTest - 4.5 (with no band score lower than 4.0); or CAEL 70 with no band score lower than 60. Alternatively, a prospective student may enroll in the ESL program with the Dalhousie College of Continuing Education and obtain a grade of at least A- on the final stage of that training. The language competency test may be waived if the applicant has completed a degree at a recognized university where the language of instruction is English. The claims must be verified by the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Test scores are valid for two years from the date the test was written.
