||The research paper is prepared under the supervision of a Faculty member or other suitable person who is appointed by the Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies in Law. The paper must reflect extensive research on a topic; it must advance a thesis, propose a solution to a problem, or present a critical analysis of an area of law. The paper is evaluated on a Pass/Fail basis by the supervisor and one other person appointed by the Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies in Law.
This program is available with a Law Clerk option. Designed specifically for law clerks, this option provides the opportunity to complete an LL.M. with research paper at the University of Ottawa at the same time as or after completing a clerkship for a judge at the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Canada, a provincial Court of Appeal or another court deemed equivalent by the Faculty of Law.
