|Field of Study:
||The University offers a graduate program that is designed for students who desire a broad training in various experimental and theoretical aspects of neuroscience while maintaining a research program that may be more specialized. This can be achieved by drawing on the expertise of specialists (members of the Centre) from various departments throughout the University who have research interests in neuroscience. The graduate program in Neuroscience offers both degrees of PhD and MSc through thesis research. Applicants not having an MSc degree will initially be admitted to the MSc program for the first year, after which they may transfer to the PhD program, provided their thesis proposal has been accepted and appropriate courses passed. Applicants already possessing an MSc degree, or an exceptionally strong undergraduate record in neuroscience, may be accepted directly into the PhD program.
A minimum of three years is normally required.

Applicants must have a supervisor and funding in place before they can be accepted into the neuroscience program. To facilitate this, it is strongly recommended that applicants contact potential supervisors to provide information about their research interests and determine whether the supervisor would be willing and able to supervise their graduate program. Applicants do NOT need to apply to the program before they begin contacting supervisors. If an applicant has not contacted supervisors during the application process, NMHI will circulate the completed and approved application to the faculty members that the applicant is interested in working. Please note that students are MUCH more likely to be successful if they contact potential supervisors directly with details on their research experience, CV and transcripts.
