Description Queen's Posgraduate Program in Family Medicine is designed to prepare family physicians that are confident and competent to practice in smaller communities, rural and northern regions of Canada. As sophisticated generalists, our graduates can contribute their knowledge and skills to any community. The Program is designed to meet the educational needs of future family physicians through our core two-year program, which leads to eligibility for Certification, by the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Approximately 15 third-year positions are available for residents who wish an enhanced educational experience in a variety of areas including, Family Medicine/Emergency Medicine (leading to the C.C.F.P. - EM examination), Family Medicine/Anesthesia, Care of the Elderly (leading to the Diploma in Care of the Elderly), Women's Health, Palliative Care, Rural Skills, Aboriginal Health, Advanced Maternity Care and Family Medicine/Oncology.

Additional Admission Requirements:
    The majority of Postgraduate Year 1 Residents enter postgraduate training through the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS). For candidates who do not meet the eligibility requirements for entry through this route, there are several other routes through which interested candidates may apply including repatriation and re-entry programs.
