Description The goal of the biomedical engineering PhD program is to deepen the student’s knowledge in an area of choice and integrate quantitative concepts and engineer novel tools for the study of life sciences and for patient care. As part of the PhD requirement, the student will integrate the scientific method, develop critical and deep thinking, and acquired advanced writing and presentation skills that will form the foundation for his/her future career. Under the guidance of his/her supervisor, the student will tackle a research challenge and contribute to the advancement of science and engineering and ultimately the improvement of health care. The Biomedical Engineering department prides itself on the diversity of its students – hailing from all areas of engineering and from the physical, chemical and life sciences and dentistry – that choose to pursue graduate degrees with us.
