Program Information
Faculty: School of Music
Degree: Master
Field of Study: Music Performance, GeneralMusic Teacher Education
Description Brandon University School of Music offers the Master of Music degree with majors in Performance and Literature (Piano, Collaborative Piano, Strings and Composition), and in Music Education (advanced study with practical emphasis in elementary music, choral music, or instrumental music). A conspicuous feature of both major programs is the high degree of flexibility which enables students to select courses of study appropriate to their individual needs and concerns. The degree may be completed in one or two years. For the many students whose professional careers as performers and teachers do not permit a full year's residency, course credits are made available through summer study and independent thesis and recital supervision. During the summers, the teaching faculty includes distinguished international specialists. Eugene Corporon, Lenke Igo, James Froseth, Harry Broudy, Kenneth Drake, Miklos Szabo, Dennis Prime, and Stanley DeRusha have brought a world-wide perspective to music education at Brandon.
