In March 1965, the Senate of the University of Saskatchewan approved the establishment of a college of dentistry on the Saskatoon Campus of the University - the ninth dental school in Canada. The dean and the first academic staff members of this public institution were appointed in 1967; the first class of dental students is admitted in 1968.
The College of Dentistry, along with the Colleges of Medicine and Nursing, is housed in the Health Science Building with clinical facilities in the adjoining Dental Clinic Building. Student hospital experience is obtained through the Hospital Dental Department in the nearby Royal University Hospital. Our mission is to educate dentists to provide high quality oral health care to the people of Saskatchewan and to advance clinical and scientific knowledge through research.
