The Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with 3200 students, is proud of its pivotal role as Atlantic Canada’s largest business school: we make an impact with purpose. Through active learning and the creation and mobilization of scholarship, we prepare citizens of the world to lead sustainable, entrepreneurial businesses and communities. Each year, the Sobey School graduates more than 800 students, 45% of whom stay to work in our region. We demonstrate the effective integration of internationalization with our gender-balanced and ethnically diverse faculty and student body—50% of our students come from outside Canada.
Areas of Expertise
Our programs offer students a range of specialties, from our Bachelor of Commerce program’s 10 majors to our MBA and specialized Masters programs in accounting, technology entrepreneurship and innovation, management of co-operative businesses, applied economics and finance. We also have a high calibre PhD (Management) program. Our reputation is growing – in 2016, our MBA placed #11 on the Corporate Knights Better World rankings and was recognized as a top value program by Canadian Business. In 2017, our Executive MBA was ranked #5 in Canada on the Ivy Executive listing.
The Sobey School has among its faculty world renowned researchers in areas ranging from finance, entrepreneurship, human resources and labour and immigration economics to retail marketing and auditing. The school offers a unique suite of programs in Co-operative Management Education, along with a specialty masters in Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation and a Master in Finance that was the first of its kind in Canada.
