Alongside professors who are some of the world's best in their disciplines, you will embark on a major research study exploring a specific aspect of forestry or environmental management. You will be able to tailor your research to whatever you are passionate about, such as forest fire management policy, the effects of mercury on Bay of Fundy seagulls or the economic impact of forest management strategies on Crown Land.

| ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS |
| Prerequisites: |
You must hold a research based master's degree such as a Master of Science in Forestry or have an excellent, honours undergraduate degree. In some cases, candidates may be required to register initially for the MScF, after which transfer to the PhD program may be permitted after a satisfactory performance evaluation. All PhD candidates are required to successfully complete an oral and written qualifying examination at the beginning of their program.

You are required to submit copies of transcripts and, in the case of international students, a TOEFL score. If a faculty supervisor is interested working with you, and if funding is in place, the faculty will ask you to submit an application for the School of Graduate Studies.
