| Description: |
The Department of Geology offers graduate programs under the auspices of the School of Graduate Studies leading to the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Geology. Present departmental research areas include: Applied glacial geology, applied geophysics and rock physics, aqueous geochemistry, hydrogeology, environmental geology, igneous and experimental petrology, mineral deposits geology, impact geology including shock induced phase transformations, palaeontology including neontology and ichnology, planetary geology, sedimentology and structural geology. Graduate enrolment is typically between 20 and 30 graduate students, which facilitates close one-on-one interaction between student and supervisor. |

| ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS |
| Prerequisites: |
Both the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees require the completion of a thesis based on an original research project. In addition, M.Sc. students and Ph.D. students, who have not already completed a M.Sc., must complete a minimum of 4 courses, one of which may be a fourth year level undergraduate course.
