The principal focus of our PhD program has traditionally been Canadian literature and textual/editorial studies. Recent additions to the department have made early modern/Renaissance literary studies an area of greatly increased strength and of unique opportunities for graduate research. |

| ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS |
| Prerequisites: |
A GPA of at least 3.7 (A-) in an MA program is required for admission to the PhD program.
Applications are processed through the School of Graduate Studies. The decision regarding admission is made by the Dean or an Associate Dean of the Graduate School, based upon the recommendation submitted by the Department of English's Director of Graduate Studies in consultation with the Graduate Committee. This decision is final and cannot be appealed.
Admission to the English Graduate Program is limited and very competitive. Because it is based on the human and physical resources available to deliver the program of study, admission is not guaranteed for those who meet the minimum academic requirements.
