Theatre Directing

PROGRAM INFORMATION
Faculty: Faculty of Graduate Studies
Degree: Master
Field of Study: Theatre/Theatre Arts Management;
Description: We believe that students learn about the art and craft of directing by directing. Our viewpoint is that a great theatre director is an artist who has extensive knowledge of the social, political, and artistic histories of world cultures. Students of directing are strongly encouraged to gain a broad liberal arts education in art history, philosophy and English.

Directing students will direct a number of short projects and at least one full-length play for completion of their Master of Fine Arts. A practicum production is required along with a practicum report. Members of the performance faculty supervise all projects and productions. N.B. Only one student is admitted to the M.F.A. Directing program.
