Description: There are excellent teaching and research facilities for geology and geophysics, graduate programs in Geology, Geophysics, Environmental Earth Science, and Paleobiology. In order to promote opportunities for research, the department maintains close ties with other science and engineering departments, the National Water Research Institute, the Saskatchewan Research Council, the Saskatchewan Geological Survey, and various resource and exploration companies.

Areas of Research: Geochemistry; mineralogy; igneous and metamorphic petrology; mineral deposits; sedimentology; structural geology; paleontology (including invertebrate and vertebrate paleontology, ichnology, palynology and palaeobotany); stratigraphy; history of geology; applied geophysics (including seismology and gravity and electrical methods); hydrogeology; environmental geology.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Prerequisites:

Applicants require a B.Sc. degree. A cumulative weighted average of at least 70% (U of S grade system equivalent) in the last two years of study (i.e. 60 credit units).
