Description: The Master of Environmental Studies (M.E.S.) in Nature-Based Recreation and Tourism with the School of Outdoor Recreation, Parks, and Tourism (ORPT) is an interdisciplinary degree that has its roots in social sciences such as leisure studies, human geography, sociology, psychology, and anthropology as well as in the professional areas of tourism, community development, resource management, parks and protected areas, and forestry. The degree focuses on the development of research skills and knowledge in policy and planning, and recreation and tourism behaviour.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Prerequisites:

Prospective students should have completed a four-year undergraduate degree in recreation or tourism studies; however, students with a four-year undergraduate degree in the Social Sciences (Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, Political Science, Human Geography) or other disciplines such as Forestry, Environmental Studies, or Planning, will also be considered for admission. Prospective students who possess a four-year undergraduate degree in Natural Science (e.g. Ecology, Biology) and who have been working in agencies with responsibilities for environmental or ecosystem management may also be deemed appropriate candidates for admission.

  • TOEFL (PBT) [min. 550] or TOEFL (CBT) [min. 213] or TOEFL (iBT) [min. 80] or IELTS [min. 6.5]
