Description The aim of the Ph.D. program in Hispanic Studies is to offer students the opportunity to become effective teachers and scholars of Spanish language and culture. Hispanic Studies provides both a broad exposure to and in-depth training in Cultural Studies, Sub-altern Studies, Urban Studies, Gender-Queer Studies and Translation Studies. Our faculty focus their research on Renaissance Spain, the Hispanic Baroque and Enlightenment, as well as on Contemporary Latin American culture. Our objective is to prepare students to develop independently as critical beings, teachers and scholars.

Online application. Two certified copies of all university transcripts (all transcripts not in English or French must be accompanied by a certified English or French translation). Two letters of recommendation (in English or French). $100 application fee. Test results: TOEFL required of all applicants to graduate studies whose mother tongue is not English, and who have not completed an undergraduate or graduate degree from a recognized foreign institution where English is the language of instruction or from a recognized Canadian institution (anglophone or francophone). Minimum score of 86, with each component score not less than 20, required on the Internet-based TOEFL examination. Proof of TOEFL must be presented at time of application or shortly thereafter.
